Capitol Engineering Laboratories holds approval from the State of California (No. A-5) as a crane certifying agency.

Our surveyors perform annual examinations and quadrennial load tests on Boom type ,Overhead bridge cranes and Aerial lifts in compliance with state and federal OSHA regulations. We examine hundreds of machines each year and can often identify potential problems and mechanical irregularities that occur. The examinations are performed  visually with the use of ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant to determine competency of the machines. Quadrennial load tests are performed with the use of dynamometers and/or certified concrete weights.

CEL has examined and proof load tested cranes in excess of 300 tons as well as inspected hoists as small as 1/4 ton. Our Surveyors never operate cranes during inspections and CEL does not perform repairs.
